One Bone at a Time: The Legacy of Dr. Alison Seely
Dr. Alison Seely has been a trusted name in animal chiropractic for over 25 years. As both a licensed veterinarian and certified animal chiropractor, she has dedicated her life to helping animals move better, feel better, and live better. She was the first in the area to integrate chiropractic care into veterinary medicine—helping animals regain comfort and function well before animal chiropractic was widely accepted.
Dr. Seely’s passion for education and advocacy led her to write One Bone at a Time—a heartfelt and informative book that shares her journey and the impact of chiropractic care on animals’ lives. She penned the book on an iPad mini with one arm in a sling, after crashing into a mama black bear while training for an Ironman triathlon. Its five-star reviews and strong sales kicked off a new chapter in her life: writing.
She has since gone on to publish two more novels—The Hex Chromosome, inspired by stories she told us kids on road trips, and Beyond Borders, a romantic suspense set in Finland. You can find them on Amazon.

A Life Built Around Chiropractic
I grew up with chiropractic as a normal part of life—my mom adjusted animals, my dad adjusted humans. Unlike my mom, I went the human route first, earning my chiropractic degree and working with people before circling back to my roots in animal care. Now, I get to do both. How very "first born" of me, right?
Between us, we cover a wide region—from Chalk River to Plantagenet and down to Brockville—offering mobile care and making natural healing accessible across the Ottawa Valley. When a tricky case comes up, I’m so grateful to be able to call my mom for her take. And when she’s off adventuring with my dad (who’s still adjusting humans after 25+ years in practice), I’m more than happy to care for her animals!
And now, to celebrate my beautiful, wild, smart, talented, courageous, and loving mother this Mother’s Day, enjoy this photo collection I found when I typed “mom” into my photo cloud. Reminder to self to digitise our photo albums at home, because there are some absolute gems hidden away there.
