For The Care Team

This page is for the people who help keep our patients moving and well every day:
veterinarians, vet techs, physiotherapists, rehab teams, trainers, farriers, groomers, and other professionals trusted with an animal’s health.

The goal is simple: make it clear where animal chiropractic at Flow fits, how we work, and how we communicate about shared patients.

How animal chiropractic fits into care

Animal chiropractic does not replace primary veterinary medicine, surgery, or rehabilitation. It sits alongside them as a movement‑focused, nervous‑system‑focused, hands‑on modality.

In practice at Flow, that means:

  • Assessing spinal and related joint motion, posture, and movement patterns

  • Using controlled manual adjustments to address areas that are not moving well

  • Aiming to support clearer nervous system signalling and more comfortable, efficient movement

Veterinary diagnosis, medications, imaging, and surgical decisions remain with the veterinarian. Animal chiropractic care at Flow is designed to complement those decisions, not compete with them.

Typical cases seen at Flow

Most of the dogs and horses under care at Flow fall into a few common groups:

  • Chronic joint or spinal discomfort

  • Post‑injury or post‑surgical mobility issues

  • Sport and working animals with recurring sprains/strains or gait changes

  • Seniors whose guardians are focused on comfort and quality of life

  • Animals on longer‑term wellness or performance care once acute issues are settled

Communication you can expect

With guardian consent after the first visit, Flow’s default is to:

  • Share clinical notes after each chiropractic visit with the animal’s veterinarian and, where appropriate, other key professionals on the team

  • Clearly document what was assessed, what was done, and how the animal responded that day

  • Invite other providers to share any findings, cautions, or updates they would like considered

The intent is to reduce silos, not increase inbox noise. Clinics and professionals are always welcome to let us know if there is a preferred address or process for receiving notes.

Training, regulation, and standards

  • Animal chiropractic in Ontario is restricted to veterinarians and chiropractors with additional, approved training

  • Dr. Savannah Mahoney is a chiropractor with post‑graduate training in animal chiropractic

  • Dr. Mahoney is licensed by the College of Chiropractors of Ontario

  • Dr. Mahoney is certified with the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association (IVCA)

This regulatory framework and third‑party oversight allow other professionals to verify who is providing care, what they are trained to do, and how they are held accountable.

More detail about training and background is available on the “About” page and via the relevant professional college links.
